Chemical and consumer goods company Henkel has upgraded its partnership with Fortuna Düsseldorf by becoming the main sponsor of the newly-promoted German Bundesliga football club.
Henkel will benefit from exposure on the club’s shirts from the 2018-19 season as part of the agreement. The deal will initially run for two years, until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
As well as exposure on the team’s kit, Henkel will receive comprehensive advertising rights and benefits for its employees, including tickets for Fortuna home matches.
Henkel, which is headquartered in Düsseldorf, has been a partner of Fortuna for 20 years and its branding has previously appeared on the kit of the Fortuna-Kicker team. Since 2010, it has been a premium partner of the club.
Robert Schäfer, chief executive of Fortuna Düsseldorf, said: “It is a great success for Fortuna that with Henkel we were able to win the only Dax company in the state capital and a genuine global player as our new main sponsor. The commitment of Henkel was the long-cherished wish of many Fortunians and once again underlines the attractiveness of Fortuna as a first-class sponsoring partner.”
Fortuna Düsseldorf secured promotion to the Bundesliga by finishing top of the second-tier 2.Bundesliga last season. Next season will mark its return to the top flight following a five-year absence.
