Ford steers into Glasgow 2014 partner role

Automotive giant Ford has reached a deal to become the sixth top-tier official partner of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Under the agreement, Ford becomes the official automotive partner of the Games and will provide the organising committee with over 1,100 vehicles for use during the event, while also providing transport for Scotland’s leg of the Queen’s Baton Relay.

Ford, which has a presence in 90 per cent of Commonwealth countries, will also become an official partner to the Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Irish teams during next year’s Games.

Ford will provide its Focus, C-Max, S-Max, Galaxy and Tourneo models to the Commonwealth Games, which run from July 23 to August 3, with a dedicated fleet of Focus Electric Vehicles available to transport the organising committee.

Glasgow 2014’s other official partners are watchmaker Longines, energy company SSE, telecommunications group Virgin Media, oil and gas multi-national BP and airline Emirates.
