Ford replaces Jaguar as Team Sky partner

British UCI WorldTour cycling outfit Team Sky has entered into a partnership with automotive giant Ford.

The company has agreed a multi-year deal to become Team Sky’s exclusive supplier of cars and vans. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Ford’s vehicles will form part of Sky’s in-race support team. The vehicles will be equipped with the company’s all-wheel drive technology in order to deal with various terrains.

Sir David Brailsford, team principal at Team Sky, said: “Ford is the perfect partner for Team Sky, sharing our core values of combining technology and innovation to meet the specific and often varied demands needed in any high-performance environment.”

The company will make its race debut at the Mallorca Challenge event on the Balearic island on January 28.

Ford replaces British car manufacturer Jaguar as Team Sky’s vehicle supplier. Jaguar ended its partnership with the team in December.
