Swiss watchmaker Tissot has renewed its partnership with the International Basketball Federation (Fiba).
The new five-year agreement is valued by industry experts at about $3m per year and will run until 2021.
The deal names Tissot as a presenting partner of Fiba’s mobile applications and will see the company serve as a premium-tier global partner of the body.
Tissot will also present the newly-created Buzzer Beater clips, which will showcase memorable baskets scored on the buzzer during Fiba competitions.
As part of the agreement, Tissot will supply Fiba with its timing and scoring system for the 2019 World Cup in China. The company will also provide timing and scoring services at the 2017 and 2021 editions of the EuroBasket tournament, as well as live results services across competition websites.
The deal grants Tissot extensive courtside and television exposure, while the company will also serve as the presenter of the MVP for selected competitions. MVPs will be offered engraved watches as part of the initiative.
As a global partner of Fiba, Tissot benefits from exclusive rights in the product category of watches, clocks and timing/scoring system services across all of the body’s national team competitions.
Tissot has been a Fiba partner for over a decade and the new agreement was brokered by Fiba Marketing, a strategic partnership between Fiba and the Infront Sports & Media agency.
