French lottery FDJ has reached a deal to become the first national sponsor of the Uefa Euro 2016 national team football competition.
France will host the tournament, the first time its is to stage a major international football showpiece since the 1998 Fifa World Cup.
FDJ will launch its Euro 2016 promotional campaign next year across a considerable network of 33,000 points of sale in 12,000 French towns and villages, with a client base of 27 million.
Uefa Events marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein said: “FDJ is ideally placed to promote the event throughout the country, thanks to its proximity to the fans. FDJ has also been active in French sport for many years now so it is only natural that it should want to get involved in the biggest event in the country and share the excitement and emotions football has to offer."
Financial terms were not disclosed for the sponsorship, while Uefa confirmed it is in the process of finalising other major commercial agreements for Euro 2016.
