European Championships founders retain belief in concept, heightened centralisation on the way

Creators of the European Championships are sticking steadfastly to the concept of the multi-sports event despite doubts over future participation of major sports, and are planning a near full centralisation of sponsorship rights in order to offer hosts of the 2026 edition a more compelling commercial package.

Speaking to SportBusiness ahead of Munich 2022, European Championships Management (ECM) co-founders Paul Bristow and Marc Jörg expressed confidence in the future viability of an event created to maximise an exposure window by amalgamating European sports federations’ individual championships.
