Telco Etisalat has been unveiled as a sponsor of two upcoming events organised by the Special Olympics, the movement that seeks to empower athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Etilasat, which operates in the Middle East and North Africa, will serve as the official telco of the 2018 Special Olympics IX MENA Games and the 2019 Special Olympics World Games, which will both be held in Abu Dhabi.
Etilasat will provide connectivity and technology services across Games venues as part of the agreement, which has been marked by a Memorandum of Understanding with the Special Olympics UAE body.
Saleh Al Abdooli, chief executive of Etisalat, said, according to the Emirates News Agency: “Etisalat is immensely proud to be supporting the Special Olympics World Games in the UAE, which is in line with Etisalat's endeavour to be at the forefront of international major sporting events and works towards fulfilling our responsibility to support world-renowned initiatives that benefit people of determination.
“This strategic partnership serves as a great platform for us to connect with a larger global audience and host a prestigious event like Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi. As an official partner, Etisalat will also enable customers to enjoy the benefits of a nationwide network, seamless connectivity and fast speeds.”
The Special Olympics IX MENA Games will run from March 14-22.
