EDF extends support of British Paralympians

EDF ENERGY has extended its sponsorship of the British Paralympic Association (BPA) and ParalympicsGB for the next four-year Olympic cycle, 2013 to 2016.

The energy company will provide support for ParalympicsGB at the Winter Paralympics in Sochi next year and at the Paralympic Games Rio in 2016.

EDF will also aid the Paralympic Movement in the UK through the continuation of ‘Team EDF’, an ambassador programme which supports individual Paralympic athletes as they prepare for the Games.

“This is a very exciting announcement for the BPA because EDF Energy has been a fantastic supporter of the team for several years,” said Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of the BPA.

“Without the support of our partners and our charitable work, we could not take a ParalympicsGB team to the Games, so their backing is absolutely crucial to our potential successes over the next four-year cycle.”

EDF is the fourth commercial partner that the BPA has signed for the next four years, joining business advisory firm Deloitte, telecommunications company BT and supermarket chain Sainsbury’s as Official Partners of the BPA and ParalympicsGB.
