Dryworld enters Brazilian market with Fluminense deal

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Fluminense has entered into a partnership with Canadian sports apparel provider Dryworld.

The company has been named the sports equipment supplier of the club as part of a five-year deal that will cover the 2016 to 2020 Serie A seasons. The partnership marks Dryworld’s first foray into Brazilian football.

Although financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Fluminense said in a statement that it would receive “a significant increase in revenues from the new partnership”.

Dryworld will mark the deal by launching a new clothing line, which will be specifically adapted to cater for the Brazilian climate.

“Fluminense has always been characterised for being a pioneer club,” Peter Siemsen, the club's president, said. “This is how we work; thinking about the best for the club, innovating without fear of challenges.”

Matt Weingart, co-founder of Dryworld, added: “Launching Dryworld in Brazil is the first and most important step toward leveraging our brand in the global market, while we bring quality and innovation for the Brazilian market.”

Dryworld replaces German sportswear giant Adidas as Fluminense’s kit partner. Adidas’s partnership with the club, which came to an end last week, lasted 19 years.
