Domain Group seals naming spot at Perth AFL venue

Real estate media business the Domain Group has reached a deal with the West Australian Football Commission to become the stadium naming rights holder for the home venue of AFL Aussie rules football teams West Coast Eagles and Fremantle.

Under the three year deal, spanning 2015 until 2017, Perth’s Subiaco Oval will be known as Domain Stadium.

The sponsorship runs until the end of the venue’s operation, with West Coast Eagles and Fremantle set to move to the new Perth Stadium at Burswood for the start of the 2018 AFL season.

Security firm Patersons Securities was the title sponsor at the venue for the past four seasons and the WAFC decided to go to market after revealing it received a “significantly reduced offer to extend the deal through to the end of 2017.”

WAFC chief executive Gary Walton said: “It was important for us to either renew or replace that deal, and we were operating in a very difficult market with a stadium that's got a limited life with the introduction of the new Perth Stadium. So it was absolutely crucial for us to get the deal done.”

Last week, Domain Group agreed a sponsorship with AFL team Adelaide Crows, becoming a platinum partner and securing branding space on the club’s playing shorts.
