Czech FA energised by Chinese partner

The Football Association of the Czech Republic has agreed a partnership with Chinese energy company CEFC.

The length of the deal, which was announced prior to the Czech national team’s 2-0 home defeat to Turkey on Saturday, was not disclosed.

As part of the agreement, the Czech and Chinese football associations will work together to improve coaching and playing standards in each country.

Chauto Chan, CEFC president, said: “We believe in the potential for cooperation between Czech and Chinese football. We hope to help Czech coaches, players and clubs in establishing cooperation with the Chinese side and its development.

“There are a number of areas, including education or youth competitions, where the Czech Republic can be an excellent partner for Chinese football.”

Last month, CEFC bought a majority stake in leading Czech football club Slavia Prague. The firm has also invested in brewery and airline companies in the country as it seeks to develop its brand in Central Europe.

The Czech Republic has qualified for Uefa Euro 2016 in France, finishing behind Iceland as runners-up in Group A.
