Correios, the state-owned company which operates Brazil’s national postal service, has agreed a deal to become a tier one sponsor of Rio de Janeiro’s 2016 Olympic Games in the logistics category.
The company fulfilled a similar role at the 2007 Pan American Games multi-sport event and will be involved in moving approximately 30 million items during the Olympic Games. The Bloomberg news agency said the agreement is worth R$300m (€94.7m/$128.4m).
Correios is already a partner of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the country’s national federations responsible for water sports, tennis and handball.
Bradesco, Bradesco Seguros, Embratel, Claro and Nissan have also signed up as top tier official sponsors of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
