German tyre manufacturer Continental has agreed a three-year deal to sponsor the Giro d’Italia cycling event.
The agreement covers the 2018 to 2020 editions of the Grand Tour race.
Continental now sponsors each of cycling’s three Grand Tour races. It partnered with the Vuelta a España last month, while it became an official partner of the Tour de France in December.
Continental agreed the Giro deal with event organiser RCS Sport. As an official partner of the race, Continental will benefit from exposure across RCS’s media channels.
Continental will also use the Giro to promote its commitment to Vision Zero, the project that seeks to minimise the number of road traffic accidents.
Alessandro De Martino, managing director at Continental Italia, said: "We have many years of experience in demanding cycling races and equip many international professional teams. For us, this cooperation is particularly important because we can promote topics that are close to our hearts, above all road safety."
The 2018 Giro begins in Jerusalem, Israel on May 4 and concludes on May 27.
