State-owned mining company Coal India has agreed a deal to become a national supporter of this year’s Fifa U17 World Cup international football tournament, which will take place in India.
Coal India joins motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotorCorp and financial services firm Bank of Baroda as Indian companies that have agreed to support the event. A further three ‘national supporter’ slots are still available.
The tournament will run from October 6-28 and will mark the first Fifa event to be held in the Indian subcontinent.
Praful Patel, chairman of the local organising committee and president of the All India Football Federation, said: “Coal India has been a strong supporter of Indian sport, and their presence will definitely help in taking the message of football to every corner of our country.”
