Catania feeds commercial appetite with Fiorucci deal

Italian Lega Serie A football club Catania has agreed a deal for food company Fiorucci to become its new main sponsor.

Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but Italian media reports said the agreement will be in place for the 2013-14 season.

Fiorucci will share branding space on the front of the Sicilian club’s shirts with ferry company TTT Lines.

Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti said: “Football remains the first vehicle of advertising, even if the (economic) crisis prevents many companies from making significant investments. In this sense we need to find new solutions and our own is an example.”
