Portland-based healthcare organisation Cambia Health Solutions has agreed to become the presenting sponsor of the Portland Classic in a deal that will return the Ladies Professional Golf Association event to its traditional name.
The LPGA tournament, which is played annually at Columbia-Edgewater Country Club, has been known as the Safeway Classic for the past 18 years under a deal with the supermarket chain.
From its 2014 edition it will be called the Portland Classic presented by Cambia Health Solutions.
The terms of the sponsorship agreement with event organiser Tournament Golf Foundation were undisclosed but players will contest a prize fund of $1.3m (€935,000), while children’s charities in Oregon will benefit once more having received a total of $17m through 2013.
The 2014 Portland Classic takes place from August 28-31, with world No.4 Suzann Pettersen set to defend the title she won by two strokes last time around.
