Caixa Econômica Federal has enhanced its presence in Brazilian club football by agreeing a one-year deal to become the new main shirt sponsor of Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A club Coritiba.
The agreement with government-owned financial institution Caixa is worth a reported R$6m (€2.23m/$2.98m) to Coritiba and comes just days after the company sealed a similar one-year deal with Flamengo.
The deal means that Caixa now sponsors four Serie A clubs, with the firm also backing Atlético Paranaense and Corinthians.
President of Coritiba, Vilson Ribeiro de Andrade, said: “Not only is the master sponsorship important for the club (financially), but Coritiba had negotiations with four groups and chose Caixa for a number of factors. One of them is a business concept with a number of benefits to our members, our fans and also a line of products with financial possibilities of using credit cards to purchase products inside the stadium with a Coritiba card or cash itself.”
