The Breeders’ Cup US horseracing event has entered into an innovative new partnership with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.
The first-of-its-kind partnership will result in the two entities exchanging sponsor titles at their respective championship races – the H.H Emir’s Sword Festival at Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in San Diego, California.
The partnership will be activated next month, when the Breeders’ Cup will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Dukhan Sprint at the H.H Emir’s Sword Festival, a three-day festival which takes place in Doha from February 23-25.
In return, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club will sponsor the Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes at this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 4.
Breeders’ Cup president and chief executive Craig Fravel said: “As we look to ways to elevate our international presence with similar calibre thoroughbred racing leaders around the world, the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club is a natural fit. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship and encouraging the international thoroughbred community to support and race in Qatar.”
