The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Universidade Brasil education group.
Under the agreement, the length of which was not disclosed, Universidade Brasil will be a new partner of the Brazilian national team.
As part of the deal, the two parties will collaborate on educational initiatives and training programmes.
“We want to bring new possibilities of training and culture to players and bring football even closer to education and professional education,” CBF president Marco Polo Del Nero said. “It's a great partnership, a historic moment.”
Universidade Brasil was formed last year following an expansion of the existing Universidade Camilo Castelo Branco brand.
CBF secretary general Walter Feldman added: “This is an initiative that has been built to develop a desire of the CBF to form a new model of Brazilian football, that preserves its characteristics and its tradition, but that projects its future with the help of education. In many countries of the world sport is already used in the construction of citizenship and we need to evolve a lot in this aspect.”
