Borussia Dortmund extends EA Sports deal

German 1.Bundesliga football club Borussia Dortmund has extended its partnership with video games company Electronic Arts to retain its EA Sports brand as an official partner for the 2013-2014 season.

Under the terms of the deal, the club and EA Sports will a run a competition for each Dortmund home game where fans can win a pair of special pitch-side tickets. The two specially-adapted seats come fitted with a games console and television screen, allowing fans to play the popular EA Sports Fifa title before the match and at half-time.

Supporters will also be able to download a special EA Sports Fifa wallpaper for their desktop computer or iPhone.

Dortmund players have also taken part in a photo-realistic 3D head scan for the new Fifa 14 title, enabling players on the game to closely resemble their real-life counterparts.

Björn Vöcking, head of marketing at Electronic Arts, said: “EA Sports wants this partnership to go a step further towards linking gaming with real-world football.”

Carsten Cramer, Borussia Dortmund director of sales and marketing, added: “EA Sports is a key international partner for us, as it helps transport the Dortmund brand into living rooms around the world.”

The deal was brokered by the Sportfive agency.
