The New Zealand Open golf tournament has agreed a title sponsorship deal with German automotive manufacturer BMW for its 2015 edition.
The tier one PGA Tour of Australasia event runs from March 12-15 next year at the Hills and Millbrook Resort in Queenstown.
With almost 30 years of supporting golf events around the world, the BMW New Zealand Open will now run alongside events such as the BMW Championship, the BMW PGA Championship, the BMW International Open and the BMW Golf Cup. Tournament organisers said that the 2015 prize fund will increase to NZ$1m (€633,000/$811,000).
New Zealand Open organising committee chairman John Hart said further announcements over additional sponsors and suppliers for the event will be made over the coming weeks.
Existing New Zealand Open sponsors include the Hilton Queenstown hotel, jewellers Michael Hill, Milford Track Guided Walks and retailer Rebel Sport.
Australia’s Dimitrios Papadatos (pictured) is the tournament’s reigning champion.
