Australia’s Big Bash League Twenty20 cricket tournament has renewed its partnership with children’s entertainment brand Nickelodeon.
The new agreement will cover the 2017-18 BBL season, which gets underway on December 19.
As part of the deal, a range of family-friendly match activities, digital promotions and other initiatives will be launched during the season.
The deal also covers the opening weekend of the new Women’s Big Bash League season on December 9-10, which will feature a carnival-style event.
Selected Nick Sports Matches will feature a giant inflatable pitch known as Nicket, as well as the Nick Squad and other prizes and activities.
Nickelodeon will also work with Cricket Australia on a slime-focused kids’ television show, which will feature stunts, pranks, jokes and a behind-the-scenes look at the BBL and WBBL.
“The relationship with Nickelodeon strengthens our position as one of the best family entertainment options in the country and we can’t wait for them to deliver more fun and enjoyment for our fans this summer,” Cricket Australia’s head of the BBL, Kim McConnie, said.
“We believe this is going to be one of the most exciting Big Bash seasons to date, and we look forward to bringing the fast-paced on-field action and family friendly off-field atmosphere to our fans across Australia, including new locations in Alice Springs, Launceston, Canberra, and Geelong.”
The new one-year deal follows on from Nickelodeon’s partnership with the league during the 2016-17 season.
