Online casino and sportsbook operator BetVictor has reached an agreement with the Professional Darts Corporation to remain title sponsor of its World Matchplay tournament for a further three years.
The tournament will take on the official title of the BetVictor World Matchplay for its 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions. BetVictor has been the title sponsor of the competition since 2013.
Matt Scarrott, BetVictor’s director of sportsbook, said: “The week is not only one of the most eagerly-awaited events on the darts calendar, but is now an integral part of the summer of sport and a wonderful vehicle to showcase our brand to a global audience.”
The 2016 World Matchplay will take place at the Winter Gardens venue in Blackpool, England from July 16-24. Michael van Gerwen (pictured) of the Netherlands is the reigning champion, having defeated England’s James Wade in last year’s final.
