Spanish energy company Repsol has renewed its long-term sponsorship ties with Portuguese Primeira Liga champion Benfica.
The two parties began their association in 1985, with the joint exploitation of a service station adjacent to Benfica’s Estadio da Luz in Lisbon a central tenet of the collaboration.
Further commercial tie-ins were added in 2005 and Repsol will continue to enjoy a range of commercial benefits, while Benfica club members can benefit from fuel discounts at the firm’s petrol stations.
António Calçada de Sá, president of oil at Repsol, said: “It is an agreement that has the added value of thinking of the club and (its) partners in terms of discounts, products and services.”
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
