Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has expanded its portfolio in sport by linking up with Benfica, the most popular football club in Portugal.
The deal with the Portuguese Primeira Liga club will run for two years, from 2015 to 2016.
Huawei, which has signed up as the official technological partner of Benfica, will provide state-of-the-art technology at the club’s stadium.
The deal enhances Huawei’s presence in European football, where it has already established partnerships with AC Milan, Ajax, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Paris-Saint Germain and, most recently, Valerenga in Norway.
“This partnership will contribute greatly to opening a new framework for technological possibilities in Benfica’s stadium and generating greater value for sports and for business,” Huawei Portugal and Spain chief executive Walter Ji said.
