Technology and consumer electronics company Gigaset has agreed to become a premium partner of German Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich.
The initial three-year deal, spanning the 2015-16 to 2017-18 football seasons, grants Gigaset exclusivity in the smartphone, tablet and wearable technology sectors.
Gigaset’s partnership with Bayern comes ahead of the company launching its first range of smartphones at the consumer electronics exhibition IFA in Berlin. It will launch sponsorship activations during Bayern’s tour of China, with the club playing matches in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou from July 16-24.
In May, Gigaset secured a first major sponsorship to promote its entry into the smartphone market by partnering with UK horseracing venue Ascot.
This month Bayern Munich has renewed its premium sponsorship deal with brewery Paulaner and added sports betting and casino games provider Tipico on the same third tier of club partners. DHL, HypoVereinsbank, Lufthansa, SAP and Yingli are also premium partners of Bayern.
