German Bundesliga football club Bayern Munich has named Doha’s Hamad International Airport as its 10th platinum partner.
The airport, which is operated by state-owned carrier Qatar Airways, has agreed a multi-year deal with the reigning Bundesliga champion. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although Bild claimed the deal would earn Bayern “several million euros”. The German newspaper added that the airport would receive advertising exposure at the club’s Allianz Arena on match days.
The deal further strengthens Bayern’s profile in Qatar, where the club has held its winter training camp for the past six years.
“This partnership is another step in our internationalisation strategy,” Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. “Part of our cooperation agreement is that we will jointly support social projects and a dialogue concerning critical community and political topics.”
HIA joins DHL, Gigaset, Goodyear, HypoVereinsbank, Lufthansa, Paulaner, SAP, Tipico and Yingli as platinum partners of Bayern.
