The Bank of China has today (Thursday) signed up as the first official partner of Beijing’s 2022 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
BOC has been appointed by the local organising committee for the Games after it opened its marketing programme in February by launching a search for a partner in the banking category.
BOC served as an official partner of the 2008 summer Olympic Games in Beijing and it will also provide services to support Team China at its home Games, as well as the 2018 winter Games in Pyeongchang, the 2020 summer Games in Tokyo and the 2024 summer Games, which will be hosted by either Los Angeles or Paris.
Beijing will become the first city to host both the summer and winter Olympics after it was awarded hosting rights to the 2022 Games in July 2015.
Beijing emerged victorious against the rival claim of Almaty after an International Olympic Committee (IOC) vote in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In a tight contest, Beijing secured 44 votes to Almaty’s 40, with one IOC member abstaining.
