German Bundesliga football club Augsburg has entered into a partnership with the tourism board of the Austrian ski resort of Pitztal.
The three-year deal will result in Pitztal being promoted at Augsburg’s WWK Arena on match days.
A range of joint events will also be organised, with fans to benefit from ticket promotions on ski passes. Augsburg will also incorporate Pitztal into its summer training camp.
In addition, an original gondola from Pitztal will be placed at the WWK Arena, while digital initiatives will be launched to promote the partnership.
Gerhard Gstettner, managing director at Tourismusverband Pitztal, said: “The new partnership with FC Augsburg gives the destination of Pitztal media presence via a holistic communication platform that would never be achieved with individual measures. In the next three years, we want to further strengthen regional awareness and the advertising effect in the target market of Augsburg with additional measures around this cooperation."
Augsburg is located in the south of Germany and is a three-hour drive from Pitztal. The football team is currently 10th in the Bundesliga table following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen.
