Japanese tyre manufacturer Falken has entered into a partnership with the Australian Rugby Union, the governing body of rugby union in the country.
The deal, the length of which was not disclosed, names Falken the official tyre partner of Australia’s national team.
Under the agreement, Falken will receive advertising exposure at Test matches played in the country, beginning with Australia’s three-match series against England, which gets underway in Brisbane on June 11.
“Our goal is to be the most respected tyre brand in Australia, and with this partnership we hope to achieve this,” Kenichi Furuhama, managing director of Falken, said. “Falken has been in Australia for decades as a major player in the tyre industry and we’re now transforming ourselves to be a truly global brand.”
The ARU said the partnership would also incorporate City Discount Tyres, which is operated by Falken’s parent company, Sumitomo Rubber.
