English Premier League football club Arsenal has entered into a partnership with US film studio Universal Pictures.
Under the agreement, Arsenal will promote a number of Universal’s upcoming film releases, including Despicable Me 3.
In return, Universal will benefit from LED advertising exposure at Arsenal’s domestic home games. Universal will also be granted access to first-team players to create promotional content around their films, and will receive exposure through Arsenal’s digital channels.
To mark the June 30 UK release of Despicable Me 3, Universal will provide Arsenal fans with exclusive content and entertainment through the club’s channels and at upcoming Junior Gunner and club events.
Arsenal’s chief commercial officer, Vinai Venkatesham, said: “This partnership with Illumination (producer of the Despicable Me franchise) and Universal Pictures is the first of its kind for the club and one we are extremely excited about. It’s a fantastic opportunity for both the club and the studio to be introduced to new audiences and we are already working closely with them to engage with our supporters in the UK and Ireland around their upcoming film releases."
