Indian tyre manufacturer Apollo Tyres has agreed a deal to sponsor the Indian Super League club football competition.
The agreement will cover the remainder of the 2017-18 ISL season, which got underway last month.
Apollo will launch a range of activations across host cities to drive fans' engagement in the ISL.
Satish Sharman, president of Apollo Tyres in Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, said: “We are looking at leveraging on the organically growing and fast adoption of football as a sport in India, and the Indian Super League is the best platform for that. Football being the key element of our brand building strategy across geographies, it will be our endeavour to work at the grassroots level of football.”
Apollo last month agreed a title sponsorship deal with Indian I-League football club Minerva Punjab FC. The five-year deal covers the 2017-18 to 2021-22 seasons. It is also the principal sponsor of ISL team Chennaiyin FC.
The company also holds partnerships with English Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Manchester United, as well as German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.
