Dutch Eredivisie football club Ajax has agreed a one-season extension to its partnership with telcoZiggo, its main sponsor.
The new agreement will run until June 30, 2020. The two parties’ previous agreement had been due to expire in the summer of 2019. Ajax said the conditions of the partnership remain unchanged.
Ziggo’s branding will continue to feature on the front of the match and training kits of Ajax’s first and reserve teams. The company also serves as the main sponsor of Ajax eSports.
Ziggo first partnered with the Amsterdam-based club in November 2014 and the company has since merged with mobile phone operator Vodafone.
Edwin van der Sar, Ajax’s general manager, said: “This is a successful partnership for both parties. It’s no secret that Ajax has had a difficult first half of this season, and the fact that in this phase, such an important partner expresses its trust in us and extends our agreement feels like additional support. And so much is happening in the sector in which VodafoneZiggo, Ziggo’s parent company, operates. From that perspective, this extension is a nice gesture.”
Ajax is currently second in the Eredivisie, five points behind PSV Eindhoven.
