British financial services firm AJ Bell has secured the title sponsorship of the Professional Squash Association Men’s World Championship, which takes place in the company’s home city of Manchester from October 26 to November 3.
This year’s tournament will see Egypt’s world No.1 Ramy Ashour defend the title he won in Doha last December, having also triumphed when the PSA World Series Tour’s premier event last came to Manchester five years ago.
“With 1.5m squash players distributed fairly evenly across the UK, our sponsorship of the event in Manchester is a chance to increase our brand awareness nationally,” AJ Bell’s marketing director Billy Mackay said.
AJ Bell made its first move into sports sponsorship last month when it acquired the naming rights to the new players and media centre at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Old Trafford ground.
