Temporary power provider Aggreko has agreed a deal to sponsor the 2018 edition of the European Championships multi-sport event, which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin.
Aggreko will serve as the official temporary power supporter of Glasgow’s event.
Aggreko will provide around 60 generators to power the event in the Scottish city, which will stage 84 sessions of sport from August 2-12 next year. Temporary power will be used alongside existing venue infrastructure to meet the event’s energy requirements.
Aggreko will also help power Festival 2018, a dynamic cultural programme showcasing music, visual art, street art, dance, theatre and digital art across Glasgow.
Glasgow will co-host the inaugural European Championships alongside the German capital. Around 3,000 athletes are scheduled to visit Glasgow for golf, aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon events, with Berlin due to host athletics events.
Aggreko also supplied temporary power during Glasgow’s staging of the 2014 Commonwealth Games multi-sport event and the 2012 summer Olympic Games in London.
The company has a similar agreement in place for the 2018 winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Korea and next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia’s Gold Coast region.
