AFL Aussie rules team Melbourne FC has secured a guernsey sponsorship deal with insurance provider Zurich.
Under the three-year deal, which will run from 2018 to 2020, Zurich will serve as the club’s new co-principal partner.
Zurich’s logo will also be placed on the front of the team’s guernsey for the duration of the partnership.
The insurance company is looking to boost its presence in Australia after announcing its intention to acquire ANZ’s life and consumer credit insurance business last month.
The Switzerland-based company has operated in Australia for nearly 100 years and already has more than 1,000 members of staff across the country.
“As one of Australia’s largest insurers, and following two recent acquisitions that have significantly grown our customer base, we felt the time was right to invest further into Zurich’s brand locally and Melbourne is the perfect vehicle to do this,” Zurich Australia’s chief executive, Tim Bailey, said.
Melbourne FC chief executive Peter Jackson added: “Building off record membership and game attendance last season, this is another example of how Melbourne continue to move forward in its journey.”
