Russian Premier League football club Zenit Saint Petersburg has reached a sponsorship agreement with Japanese automotive company Nissan.
The deal is for three years through until March 31, 2018. Zenit said the agreement grants Nissan branding space on the team’s playing shirts and around the Petrovsky Stadium. Nissan will also provide vehicles to Zenit players and staff.
Nissan replaces rival manufacturer Audi as Zenit’s exclusive automotive partner. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Russia’s state-owned energy giant Gazprom is Zenit’s main sponsor and Nissan joined the firm in becoming an official partner of the Uefa Champions League last year.
Head of Nissan Russia, Philippe Saillard, said: “A partnership with the Zenit football club continues this path at the Russian level. Separating the principles of equal rights, healthy competition and self-expression, Nissan and the club will attract not only football fans to elite sport, but also Russian auto enthusiasts as well.”
