Office products retailer Winc has agreed a deal to sponsor the 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games multi-sport event, which will be held in Australia’s Gold Coast region.
Winc, formerly known as Staples, will serve as the official office and stationery supplier for the Games.
The company has been working with Games organisers for the past two years, providing various office stationery and supply solutions, including Indigenous Australian-owned product lines.
Winc is also working with the Gold Coast Organising Committee (GOLDOC) on the Schools Connect initiative, through which students in the region will paint over 7,000 canvases supplied by the company.
The canvasses will promote the Gold Coast region, with the final artworks to be hung in athletes’ rooms at the Commonwealth Games Village.
GOLDOC chairman Peter Beattie (pictured) said: “Our commercial program is crucial to the success of the Games. It is a key pillar in helping us to deliver the cheapest possible tickets to events so Queensland and Australian families have the opportunity to attend the biggest event in Queensland’s history.
“We’d love to see the athletes take these home as a memento of their time on the Gold Coast. You never know; the budding artists might end up being future Games athletes or forge a career in the art world.”
The Games will run from April 4-15 next year.
