US financial services company Wells Fargo has bolstered its backing of North American football by sponsoring the Mexican national team’s annual tour of the United States through 2016.
The agreement commenced with Mexico’s 4-1 friendly win on Wednesday against Ivory Coast at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Mexican deal comes after Wells Fargo was last month unveiled as the exclusive retail banking and commercial lending sponsor of Major League Soccer in an agreement that also runs through 2016.
The company struck both deals with Soccer United Marketing, the North American league’s commercial arm.
