Volleyball Australia says hello to new major sponsor

Travel distribution company Helloworld has agreed a four-year deal to become the major sponsor of Volleyball Australia, the sport’s governing body in the country.

The partnership is effective immediately and will run until the end of 2019. The agreement will see Helloworld take on naming rights to Australia’s national teams. Under the agreement, the men’s and women’s sides in both the indoor and beach disciplines will officially be known as the Helloworld Volleyroos.

The two parties’ relationship began with the Volleyfest beach event, which got underway last Friday. Volleyfest, which is being held on Manly Beach, Sydney, will see host nation Australia compete in the Four Nations Cup and the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships. The event concludes on March 28.

Helloworld will lend its support to Australia’s indoor teams during their qualifying games for this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The qualifiers will take place in Japan in June. The partnership will also include collaboration on grassroots initiatives.

As well as the 2016 Olympics, the partnership will also cover the 2018 Commonwealth Games multi-sport event, which will be held in Australia’s Gold Coast region.

“Volleyball is the number one gender-equal sport in Australia,” Volleyball Australia president Craig Carracher said. “With Helloworld’s support, we can continue to grow the sport and increase participation at all levels.”
