Financial services group Virgin Money has opted to extend its title sponsorship of the London Marathon.
The deal will run for five years, from the 2016 race through to 2020.
Under the agreement, the annual event will continue to be officially known as the Virgin Money London Marathon.
The partnership between Virgin Money and the London Marathon began in 2010, when the two parties set a target of raising £250m (€340m/$387m) over the following five years. The current total raised has surpassed £315m.
Jayne-Anne Gadhia, chief executive of Virgin Money, said: “We are proud to support this record-breaking fundraising feat through Virgin Money Giving [the company’s online charity fundraiser], which has just hit its sixth birthday. Virgin Money Giving doesn’t take a penny in profit and that means so much more money goes directly on to the charities.”
The 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon will take place on April 24.
