The Australian Masters golf event has named Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo as its new title sponsor.
The 2015 event, which takes place at the Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne from November 19-22, will be officially named the Uniqlo Masters. The length of Uniqlo’s agreement with the tournament was not disclosed.
Australian golfer Adam Scott, whose apparel partner is Uniqlo, has also agreed to take part in this year’s event in his home nation.
Uniqlo Australia chief executive Shoichi Miyasaka said: “We are proud to have a long term partnership with Adam Scott that began the week he famously won The Masters at Augusta. Given his affinity with the Australian Masters and our strong store presence in Melbourne in the CBD (Central Business District) at Emporium, Chadstone and Eastland, we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with IMG and the Victorian State Government on the 2015 Uniqlo Masters.”
The deal marks Uniqlo’s first-ever title sponsorship of a sports event.
