German sporting goods manufacturer Uhlsport has struck a deal to become the official ball supplier for the French Ligue 1 top-tier club football competition.
The deal will run for five seasons, from 2017-18 through to 2021-22.
Although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, French newspaper L’Equipe said that the agreement is worth €1.2m ($1.3m) per season.
German sportswear giant Adidas, which currently supplies footballs for Ligue 1, is said to have bid €500,000 per season to extend its deal.
Uhlsport already provides footballs for the France’s Ligue 2 second tier as well as the Coupe de la Ligue domestic knockout cup competition.
