European football’s governing body Uefa has signed up French telecommunications company Orange as the latest global sponsor of the Euro 2016 national team tournament.
Orange becomes the event’s official telecommunications service provider.
As part of the agreement, the company will provide the championships, which take place in France from June 10 until July 10 next year, with its fixed and wireless communications services inside the 10 host stadia across the country.
Over 800 Orange engineers and experts will be responsible for delivering live match signals from each venue. In addition, Orange will introduce exclusive offers for its customers in the lead-up to the championships.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of Uefa Events, said: “Orange’s contribution to the transmission of the TV signal will ensure that fans around the world are able to experience the excitement of the tournament at its best. In parallel, our partnership will help Uefa to deliver the most digital and connected event ever.”
Orange becomes Euro 2016’s eighth global sponsor, joining Adidas, Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, Continental, Hyundai/Kia, McDonald’s and Socar. The tournament’s final two global sponsors are expected to be named in the coming weeks.
