UCI ProTour cycling team Trek Factory Racing has announced it will partner with the PeopleForBikes movement for the remainder of the 2014 international race season.
The US team’s owner, Trek Bicycle, is a longtime partner and founding member of PeopleForBikes.
Since 2011, PeopleForBikes has united cyclists behind the goal of improving cycling conditions throughout the US. This effort has already engaged 810,000 individual supporters in the United States. The goal for 2014 is to grow to one million or more people who have given their name and email address in support of better riding.
The new partnership will have a special emphasis on the forthcoming Tour de France where PeopleForBikes will welcome supporters from other nations introducing them to top bike advocacy programs in their home countries.
President of PeopleForBikes Tim Blumenthal said: “A strong, united group of people for bikes can effectively influence government policies and spending, and help assure bike riding conditions that are safer and better for everyone. We are honoured that Trek and Trek Factory Racing are supporting us big-time as we embark on this new chapter of our mission.”
PeopleForBikes and Trek Factory Racing will officially debut the partnership, and share its goals and vision at a press conference in Leeds, England on July 3 at the Tour de France opening ceremony and team presentation.
