Financial services company RHB has extended its title sponsorship of the Singapore Cup club football competition.
RHB has agreed a new three-year deal with the Football Association of Singapore to continue sponsoring the tournament until 2019.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Singaporean newspaper The New Paper said the deal would be worth SG$1.5m (€978,000/$1.1m).
The new deal will take RHB’s partnership with the FAS to 15 years.
FAS council member Michael Foo said: “This sponsorship renewal for the next three years is a strong show of support and commitment from RHB Singapore to help us continue developing local football, and bringing our partnership to 15 years is testament to the mutually beneficial relationship we have. We hope that more corporations will follow the lead of RHB Singapore and step forward to partner with us to raise the standards of Singapore football.”
The 2017 Singapore Cup will feature 12 clubs in total. Eight Singaporean S.League teams will compete, along with Cambodian clubs Boeung Ket Angkor and Nagaworld, and Philippines-based sides Ceres Negros and Global Cebu.
The preliminary round of this year’s competition will run from May 29 to June 4. S.League club Albirex Niigata is the reigning champion.
