Swiss watch brand Tissot has reached an agreement to become the official timekeeper of France’s premier rugby union division the Top 14.
Tissot will be responsible for developing new timing solutions for the 2014-15 Top 14 season, synchronising systems in stadiums and on television broadcasts across 187 matches. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The manufacturer will also introduce a countdown system that will allow referees to time the precise completion time of a penalty or a conversion kick.
Tissot's brand will benefit from a visible presence during all live television broadcasts of Top 14 matches.
Top 14 joins the MotoGP and FIM World Superbike motorcycling series, the International Basketball Federation (Fiba), Australian Football League and rugby union’s Six Nations Championship among the global sports properties for which Tissot is the official timekeeper.
