Singapore-based project management and consultancy company The Project Group has agreed to become a major partner of Australia’s men’s and women’s national hockey teams.
Under a two-year agreement with Hockey Australia, TPG’s logo will feature on the playing uniforms of Australia’s teams, both of which will hold a training camp in Singapore during the term of the contract.
Players will be able to benefit from a medal incentive scheme under the sponsorship, although financial details of this and the overall deal were not disclosed.
TPG managing director and former Singapore national team goalkeeper Paul Lim said: “The Project Group decided to partner with Hockey Australia as we see benefits on two fronts. Firstly, we recently opened our office in Sydney and were looking to find a way to expose our brand to the Australian community. Australia is such a sport loving nation and there is no better way to market our presence through the sporting realm.
“Secondly, hockey is a personal passion of mine. I am trying to develop the profile of the sport in Singapore. Having gone through the hockey system in Australia and reaping a lot of valuable knowledge, I decided to set up something similar in Singapore; not just the system but also to expose top hockey stars as mentors and coaches to the future generations in Singapore.”
