Taiwanese non-profit golf organisation Swinging Skirts has been named as the title sponsor of this year’s edition of Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) event the Taiwan Championship.
The event will run from October 19-22 at the Miramar Golf & Country Club and will be officially known as the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship.
Taiwanese financial services group CTBC Bank will also continue to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Taiwan Championship, which this year will feature a prize fund of $2.2m (€1.9m).
Swinging Skirts’ first move into golf sponsorship came in 2011, when It hosted the Swinging Skirts TLPGA Invitational event in Taiwan. The event later expanded to become the Swinging Skirts World Ladies Masters.
The company also sponsored the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic event in San Francisco between 2014 and 2016.
Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TLPGA) chairlady Cheng Mei-Chi said: “Frankly speaking, ladies golf in Taiwan may not be as prosperous as it is today without the contribution of Swinging Skirts. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderfully lovely and most passionate Swinging Skirts Golf Team members and chairman (Johnson) Wang. With your support, I think we have a very good chance of hosting an even better tournament this year.”
The Taiwan Championship is co-sanctioned by the LPGA and the TLPGA. Jang Ha-na (pictured) of Korea is the defending champion.
