Swimming Australia, the body that governs the sport in the country, has announced a partnership between footwear brand Sperry and the Australian Dolphins swim team.
The three-year deal will end in 2018 and will see Sperry become the official leisure footwear partner of the Dolphins.
Sperry, a brand that specialises in the manufacturing of boat shoes, will receive advertising and promotion through Swimming Australia’s online and social media platforms.
RCG Brands executive director Ted Baldock said: “We see huge potential in the Australian market for Sperry and this partnership is our first step in a bold strategy to become involved with iconic Australian sports. And in our eyes there is nothing more iconic in Australia than the swim team.”
Miles Rose, general manager of sponsorship and business development at Swimming Australia, added: “Sperry has a significant presence in the USA and together we’re working in partnership to build the brand in Australia.”
The Dolphins enjoyed a successful World Championships in Kazan, Russia earlier in the year, picking up seven gold, three silver and seven bronze medals – the team’s biggest haul in eight years.
